| General Website Questions |
| Q: | When I click on the little button to play a preview of a track, nothing happens |
| A: | The preview player works in a pop-up window. Make sure your browser is not blocking pop-up windows and everything should work. |
| Q: | What browsers are supported by acaTunes? |
| A: | acaTunes has been tested and will work successfull with the following web browsers: Firefox (Mac and Windows), Safari (Mac), and Internet Explorer 7 (Windows). It will not work on Internet Explorer 6. It will probably not work on: Opera, Internet Explorer 5 (Mac), and AOL's Browser. Either way, be sure that you enable cookies and javascript. We've recently tested the website on Mobile Safari for the iPhone and iPod Touch with good results, although downloading music may not work in this browser (limitation that Apple has put in the software). |
| Q: | I've emailed acaTunes using the contact form, but I haven't ever gotten a response. |
| A: | Either Freddie or Mike personally respond to every message sent to us in the Contact Form, sometimes within the hour. If you haven't gotten a response in a day or so, go into your Junk Folder in your email and look for a response there. This is especially true with AOL users. Please be sure to un-block messages from acaTunes.com in your email. |

| Q: | Can I buy gift certificates for a friend of mine? |
| A: | You can purchases acaTunes giftcards at various a cappella events throughout the country. You can also send some of your acaBucks to another user on the system. Go to the My Account page and click "Share". Freddie, one of the Co-Founders of acaTunes, is an only-child and is very proud of his ability to share with others (very un-only-child-like). Share your acaBucks!! |
| Q: | What kind of audio file am I buying? |
| A: | The tracks we sell are delivered to you as MP3 files. They have been encoded using a very high quality encoder at 256kbit/sec VBR (Variable Bitrate). They will play on any MP3 player, including iPods and many car stereo players (when burned to CD-R). We encode at this bitrate setting because blind tests have shown that files encoded this way are indistinguishable from the original audio. Tracks encoded at a higher bitrate, but CBR (Constant Bitrate) would actually not be better quality. VBR provides the best of both worlds: quality and smaller filesize. |
| Q: | How come I see that some tracks aren't available for purchase on a particular album? |
| A: | Cover-tunes (songs written by someone other than the artist performing them) must be licensed before we can sell them to you. Most licensings (like 80% of the cover-tunes out there) are handled through the Harry Fox Agency (HFA). We've worked out a great relationship with HFA and can license tracks with them very quickly. Some songs are not licensable through HFA, however. For those songs, we need to contact the music publisher and work out the licensing with them. Until those licenses are settled, we are not allowed to sell those tracks. |
| Q: | How much do tracks cost? |
| A: | Each track lists the cost next to it. Most regular audio tracks cost 1 acaBuck. Each acaBuck costs $1. You can purchase acaBucks on the My Account page, after logging in. |

| Q: | What is a DPD? |
| A: | DPD stands for "Digital Phonorecord Deliveries". A full, permanent download (DPD) is each individual delivery of a phonorecord by digital transmission of a sound recording (embodying a musical composition) resulting in a reproduction made by or for the recipient. DPDs reside on a recipient's computer indefinitely. DPDs may be transferred to portable devices or burned onto CDs (in accordance with the rules set by the digital distributor of a specific DPD). DPDs fall under Section 115 of the Copyright Act and are currently licensed at the statutory rate for physical phonorecords. |
| Q: | I'm in an a cappella group, how can I sell my music on acaTunes? |
| A: | Check out our Submissions Page, which will tell you lots of information about selling your music on acaTunes. |
| Q: | How can I get my group on the frontpage Featured Artist ad? |
| A: | We pretty much pick artists we dig and groups that are doing cool stuff. If you really want to be in the Featured Artist ad, contact us. |
| Q: | Will you please accept our CDs? Please don't reject us! |
| A: | We love all a cappella music. We won't ever reject your music because we don't care for it or because we don't think it'll sell. We want to help you get your music to the people who want to buy it. Send in your CDs! |
