acaTunes serves the a cappella community by making available the largest collection of recorded a cappella at the highest quality possible. acaTunes promotes creativity by building a definitive digital marketplace for all a cappella recordings, not just those from published CDs, and by obtaining our own DPD licenses for cover-tunes, thereby removing two of the biggest barriers to music distribution: manufacturing and licensing.

| OUR TECHNOLOGIES |
acaTunes uses the LAME MP3 Encoder to create the MP3s we distribute. LAME is by far the best conversion software we've found. We use variable-bitrate encoding (VBR) at a very high target bitrate of 245kbit/sec. At this quality level, ABX blind listening tests have shown that most listeners cannot distinguish the MP3 audio from the original audio. These files will play in any MP3 player and are not locked in any way.

We have integrated our database with RARB's database of a cappella album reviews. You can see RARB Scores for albums right in acaTunes and RARB links directly to album pages from their reviews on RARB.org.
